Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program

This grant is to develop a Classified School Employee School Credentialing Program within Celerity Educational Group. This grant program is designed to support the completion of a bachelor’s degree and teacher preparation program. The goal is to assist current classified CEG employees that are interested in becoming fully credentialed teachers. This grant opportunity is designed to aid eligible applicants for up to five years for the 2016-17 to 2020-21 school years.

Applicant Eligibility

1. Must be a current Celerity Educational Group classified employee (non-certificated).

2. Must have an AA degree or have successfully completed two years of postsecondary education at the time of enrollment in this funded Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program.

Participants must commit to accomplishing all of the following:

(A) Graduate from an institution of higher education with a bachelor’s degree.


(B) Complete all of the requirements for, and obtain, a multiple subject, or education specialist teaching credential.

(C) Complete one school year of classroom instruction at a Celerity Educational Group Charter School for each year that he or she receives assistance for books, fees, and tuition while attending an institution of higher education under the program.

Do I quality for this program if I already hold a preliminary teaching credential?

No, this program is only for Classified Employees only.

What can the paid release time be used for?

12 hours of paid release time per academic year can be used for activities relating to obtaining your credential. Ex. Registration, counseling, class time.

Do I have to get my bachelor’s degree and credential within five years?

At this time funding for this grant program will only be available for five years from the 2016-17 school year to the 2020-21 school year.

I am currently enrolled in school, does it matter what school I attend?

This program can be used for California Community Colleges, CSU, UC and private not-for-profit institutions of higher education that offer a commission-approved teacher preparation program.

Do I qualify if I don’t have my AA degree but have enough units to fulfil an AA degree?

Yes, the applicant must have an AA degree or successfully completed two years of postsecondary education at the time of enrollment in this program. Two year minimum must be equivalent to two years of full-time-student status.

Do I qualify if I have not worked at Celerity for a full year?

Yes, applicant must be currently employed by Celerity.

Celerity will give priority to candidates with highest proficiency of courses already taken from Hunter Certificates, prior academic records and employment evaluations.
